Hello I just cloned my SATA SSD BOOT DRIVE to my new NVMe M.2 SSD using the provided Crucial cloning software (Acronis). I assigned the new drive to A: and it shows up in "My computer" So I load up BIOS and the new SSD does not show up anywhere, I tried unplugging the old boot SSD but I get an error message when I boot the computer up saying to "reboot and select proper boot device..." I made sure the System reserved partition was active in the cloned disk too.

Help please!

What kind of capacity had you used? If at all viable, a clean OS install might be a better route to go.

If cloning is the route you want/need to go, that's fine.... Maybe try posting screenshots of what you're seeing before initiating the clone, just to make sure you're cloning everything.

They're all mostly ok. No first-hand experience with Acronis, but haven't heard anything bad about it....

What version of Windows are you running? If Windows 10, you can create your own media on a USB from here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10

How to:

Provided you're already activated & install the same version of Windows (home/Pro) then no, you just skip when prompted for a key and you'll reactive when back online.

For the purposes of re-cloning, a quick format was all you needed to do? Assuming you're running more in-depth formatting?

But when I do eventually wipe the disk clean again, when I re-start the cloning process and show screenshots I assume you will not be there to guide me during this process. So how do I go about this?

I made the NTFS Primary partition 223.03GB the last one so I can extend that disk size to fill out just in case filling out the NTFS primary thats 450MB is wrong to use

In other words, does it matter which partition I make to fill out the rest of the capacity of the new cloned disk?

Is this correct?

Also now that I formatted, (acronic disk cleaner was frozen and didn't complete) so i just formatted the disk from my computer and right clicking to properties on the disk and clicking format. I think the total capacity of the disk decreased? I wonder if it was always 930GB MAX i thought it was more than that

Anyone have an input on this?

So I performed the cloning again but this time with macrium reflect. But still no progress, same issues. I cloned everything and powered off, unplugged old ssd so that it would boot off of new clone but it says to reboot and insert proper boot device. I replugged old ssd to boot up again and enter into bios. Bios still doesn't even show the new cloned drive. Sigh
