Cloning 2Tb to 1Tb

My 2Tb hard drive is beginning to fail, I am looking to clone it to a 1Tb Western digital hard drive. However, I read somewhere that this is not possible can someone help me?

It can be done so long as the volume on that 2TB drive is less than 1TB is size (otherwise it wouldn't fit!). Some cloning software will automatically resize the partition, others won't. If you wan't to do it manually here is a guide - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/gg309169.aspx

Of course if your have more than 1TB worth of data on the drive this simply isn't going to work.
