Question Cloning SSD to new SSD

So I bought a new SSD (nvme) and I tried cloning my old SSD (SATA 2.5") but I failed.

So what happened is as follows.
I formatted the new disk to NTFS.
I used Macrium Reflect Free to clone the old one onto the new one.
I expanded the new disk to include the extra free space.

I rebooted and in BIOS I chose to boot from it the new disk but it said that I needed to insert a bootable disk or something along the lines so I am assuming the cloning process wasn't perfect.

I then reinstalled Windows on the new one but honestly I'd rather just clone what's working on the old one so I don't have to go through reinstalling everything.

What am I missing or what did I do wrong?

Thanks in advance!

What specific make/model drive?
What motherboard?

At the end of the clone process, the first thing you needed to do was power OFF, disconnect the old drive, and see if it powers up from only the new one.

But...going from a SATA drive to NVMe can be problematic. No NVMe drivers were included.
