Hello everyone, the Wi-Fi router that I have, it has two USB ports, one is USB-A and the other one is USb-C.

If a USB hard drive or SSD is connected to the router through one of these ports, is there an app available that provides a reliable cloud storage?

I have tried a few FTP apps, but the cloud storage is never reliable and many times they do not connect very well. Is there something better out there?

Thank you

As I said, no. What else your router supports besides FTP? Router model link?
Thank you for replying. I have this: archer-ax11000

i am not looking for serious high speed cloud access, but for some use.

An APP for what hardware?
And do you mean "cloud" as in remote access?
But in addition to what @cruisetung mentioned above, most people won't allow the router to format the disk into a Linux format. They want to have the disk readable by Windows and so use a Windows format. That hurts performance even more.
yes, access to the SSD connected to the router thru USB-c port. for back up of occasional files and to access data. not big sized files. just once in a while use. but just looking for a reliable app.

your exact upload speed if is 25Mbps, translate into MB it will be 4MB/s (divide by 8) only download to your smartphone from outside, no matter how fast your storage is.

with that speed, its only suitable for streaming music or 1080p video

I am not sure what that means 🙁
Do you want to access the storage from where the router is located (LAN access) or do you want to access it from anywhere (WAN access).
Your original request for "cloud" storage implies anywhere access, like google drive or MS One Drive. Those are cloud storage. Local area storage is a NAS or network attached storage.

WAN access in that case. thank you. I just want to know if one app for this is better than the other. Thanks again

WAN access is not very safe unless you really know what you are doing. The safest way to do this is to use a vpn on the router and then access the storage as if you were on the LAN. Problem is the VPN as well as whatever file share method the router has all take CPU on the router.

Best way is likely to just pay a cloud storage place.

You do not want to use a router to do all this function. It might be something for very limited use but a router is designed to share the IP you get from your ISP with all your devices inside your house. Almost nobody uses any other feature so they do not put large cpu in the router to keep costs down.

If you really want remote access to a lot of files get a NAS of some kind, many of those have VPN ability also.

WAN access in that case. thank you.
Some years ago, when I first stood up my NAS box, I had it semi-open, to be able to access it from outside.

It got multiple access attempts, every day. From all over the planet.

Ohio, Russia, Portugal, Switzerland, etc, etc, etc.
Non actually got in, due to my preemptinve security settings. But one mistake on my part, and it would have been wide open.

I soon closed that hole.
Anything I want to share with the outside world...OneDrive/DropBox/Amazon. Let THEM handle the security.
