Just finished assembling the new build, and it appears like nothing is receiving any power, there are no lights on the motherboard, and basically I'm just depressed because I spent $1100 on a really big paperweight at this point.

Is there a way for me to test if my individual components are working? I paid very careful attention to be grounded the entire duration of assembly. I was supposed to have a friend guide me through the process, but he insisted "its simple" and "you just plug the stuff where it belongs". Well, I did all of that and have no clue what to do now.

Post your specs. Is the switch on the back of the power supply turned on? Are you sure your front panel power button is connected properly?

Assuming the 24pin main power connector to the motherboard is connected the motherboard should at least power on. You can test the power supply by jumping it's power pins on the 24pin main connector with a paper clip. I linked instructions below.
