Cluster-in-a-box is a really neat idea if it can be pulled off correctly, but it is still very new and also still very proprietary. There aren't many places offering this yet, in fact the dataonstorage link that you shared was one of the first systems I've seen that is a true cluster-in-a-box being offered for sale. The Dell VRTX server is the next closest comparison that I have seen, which is basically a blade server system combined with a SAN all in one chassis. Interesting still, and also very pricey.

May I ask why you are specifically looking for a cluster-in-a-box solution? If you're looking for high availability, why not a couple 1U or 2U servers combined with a simple SAN? Is rack space or power draw a main concern here?

But basically yes a cluster-in-a-box is going to end up costing nearly the same overall as a cluster with individual servers till. Even a bare minimum configuration of the Dell VRTX server is over $10,000 USD and I don't think that even includes any software licensing if necessary for your needs as well.
