Hey Foolycooly!

I haven't yet but I was reading another forum where someone had replaced the stock fan with a Noctua. I have been thinking about switching in one of the red led fans CM has up on their sites just for that purpose. I need a bit more red ambient glow but don't want the brightness of a cathode.

Just bought two of these:

for a bit more than $31 after shipping. Going to use one to replace the fan in the V8 and the other to go directly behind it in an exhaust orientation. I'm hoping that I will have enough intake to keep up with my increased exhaust, but I expect to lower my cpu temps by a few degrees. I'll post results when I get them installed.

Yep - that is the exact fan I was talking about. Please let me know how it looks afterwards. Could you check how much glow you are getting from the V8 before you add in the second fan?

Meh, I got the two fans but was not able to ever replace the v8 one. The bottom screws were very difficult to get to and were so tightly fastened that I could not undo them. I ended up stripping the head of the screw partially in my futile attempts to muscle it off...the things are absurdly tight.

I can tell the fans move a ton of air though and I can certainly say that they would make a big difference if you can get your stock cm fan out...for now I just replaced two of my case fans and can feel a big difference in air movement.

that is ashame, I was thinking about doing this as well but I certainly don't wish to strip any screw heads. thank you for the heads up
