CMOS battery died, replaced, but can't boot system - disk drives not recognized

I have a Dell 8400 running XP. Past two weeks been getting CMOS battery low messages. Yesterday I went to boot PC and got error message saying no drive recognized and had F2 or F12 options. I replaced CMOS battery but still didn't boot. Went into setup via F12 and it says Drive 0 (and 1,2, and 3) are not present. How can I get the drive recognized?

Start by going into your system's BIOS - what is listed as the primary boot device?

I will suggest you return your BIOS settings to default and then setup all the options again. The most important one is to make sure your HDD is set to IDE, SATA or RAID depending on how your pc is setup and selected as 1st boot Device.

You can also clear your CMOS. Refer to your Mobo manual for that process if you want to do that.

Also I will suggest you leave the PC plugged in for a while to get the battery charged if you haven't done so already.

Thanks! The boot device order is the CD drives and then the HDD's. Drive 0 is the first drive in the list of HDD's. I tried changing the order to move the HDD up to first boot device but it says the device is not present. Not sure why I can't get it to recognize the device.
