Apologies if the question has been thoroughly answered before.

I have the UK freeview (470Mhz-850Mhz ) aerial coax cable coming into the house in the wrong place for the TV. I have Cat 5e cable already laid from where the aerial lands to where the TV set is (aprox 12m away).

I wonder if there is a solution to send the aerial coax signal over the Cat 5e cable and then, at the TV side, take it from Cat 5e and put it back to coax to feed the TV set.

If the Coax over Ethernet doesn't work well, any ideas of how I could feed the aerial signal into the TV without a cable between aerial and TV?

Many thanks
alex

Solution
Consider a wireless Transmitter/Receiver kit.

For examples:

Line diagram:

Coax in ---> Extension room cable box ----HDMI ---- > TX ~~~~~~~ wireless transmission across area ~~~~> RX -----HDMI -----> TV

You will need to pay close attention to connection types (port & plugs) for all devices.

The setup and arrangement can be cumbersome - especially if power outlets are not readily available.
Coax are shielded , wont work well with Cat 5e cables .. and I dont get it , you are okay with the Cat 5e cable and not okay with Coax cable to TV?

How is the Cat5e cable laid ? on the floor? on the wall ? inside the wall ?

The Cat 5e cable is laid under floor. Just had a house extension built and had coax socket on only one wall (the wrong wall!) and Cat 5e on both walls. It was a big mistake not to have coax on both walls and my wife is not happy (I mean really furious) if I try to put an outside cable from on side of the room to the other!
