It's a common mistake to believe the following: You can also send up a platoon of combat choppers to engage a drone swarm with guns, but you’re risking several multi-million-dollar weapon platforms to combat cheap suicide drones.

The actual cost comparison is if you don't counter to the threat how much will you lose? Then you adjust your spending accordingly. So you don't compare the helicopters to the platform, you can pair the helicopters to the thing you are defending. Then the math gets a little bit more complicated, how many drones do you think you'll be able to destroy per helicopter does this ratio improve with multiple helicopters, etc
