Most of these problems do not have to do with CoH in and of itself,
but the routes by which the internet traffic flows to and from you.
Since there is no single carrier of the entire internet; it is
handled by MCI, UUNET, AT&T, and others; the interconnection between
them and you can become corrupted.
Internet traffic follows the physics of water, easy-flow method.
Plus, route on the internet are held in each router for a
predetermined time, that is set by the indiviual ISP. So, AOL could
keep their routes for 24 hours, while MCI keeps theirs for 48, etc.
Others use dynamic routing, FIFO, least-resistance, et. al.
If you do a traceroute to the IP you might see something like this:

And I was just playing, yet the router/firewall is not accepting
these ICMP packets and passing a response back to me. But the last
good response was from a gateway (GW) on Alter.net, probably in
Miami.
I could do this in 24/48 hours from now, and might see an entirely
different route to the final destination.
