Hi,

Recently got a 6950xt and ended up doing an RMA on a 2015 Corsair RM1000X because it was coil whining at idle and making odd noises in certain games. They replaced it with a 2021 RM1000X and now both have started whining even worse under load.

I have uploaded videos to YouTube as found below of both of the items making the noise. I can hear it through my headset and its annoying as hell I cant stand the sound.

PSU: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/NtvF6F7gw7k

GPU:

Have tried using the cables that came with the PSU and a set of premium cables from Corsair and it didn't fix the issue. Undervolted & reducing power limit don't work either and any form of overclock on the GPU makes the whole thing much worse.

I am FPS capped to 144hz.

GPU temps are around 60-70C with hot spot of 80-85c, usually the hotspot is 20C higher on this GPU upwards of 25C.

Should I RMA both products or is it likely the PSU is causing the GPU whine?

Thanks.

Your video shows up as Unavailable on YT and nothing on this forum.

You might want to take a sheet of A4 paper, roll it up into a cylinder and then hold one end to your ear while the other end probes for the source of the noise.

Recently got a 6950xt
What GPU did you have prior?

When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.
