Colors issue with 4870

I just bought a XFX 4870 1gb, my first ever ATI card. I'm having an issue with the colors and I'm not sure if it is some glitch or some setting I haven't enabled or something.

Basically, the color settings that I kept for my desktop don't seem to be transfering into any game. When I turn a game on, the brightness and gamma etc are totally different from what I kept on desktop, even when I enable options like 'Use deskop gamma' etc. Tried around 3 games and they all had the same problem. The other annoying thing is that when I exit the game, the color settings that were in the game start showing up on the desktop and they stay there till I open catalyst. Then it suddenly goes back to normal.

Any ideas what is happening? I'm finding myself missing the easy color settings of my Geforce 8800GT.

I had the same problem with a game. you must set the game own video settings to your needs. ie wolfenstein, campagin, option. oh wait options or settings and go under that tab and go to video for the resolution and the gamma ratio. and brightness.

each game you will to manually set the video settings.

That really sucks... :( So basically ATI cards don't have the capabilities of importing color settings from desktop to games automatically and I'll have to manually set different settings for every game I play? And I'll have to keep opening Catalyst after I quit a game to get rid of the game's color settings from desktop? =/
Wow I'm missing nvidia already...

Let me try to explain the problem a little clearer. Any advice from owners of a 4870 would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not a fan of brightness so I've set my gamma as very low. The thing is, whenever I start a game (tried 3 so far), the gamma in them is really high. Even when I use the option of 'use desktop gamma' (which I've set as very low) it still remains very high. So I had to manually set the gamma of all games to very low.

And when I shut the game off, my desktop's gamma is back to being very high... as high as it was when I tried the 'use desktop gamma option.' It stays that way till I open the catalyst control panel... then it suddenly goes back to the original low setting I had.

Does anyone else have this issue at all? I don't understand my low gamma settings don't seem to be sticking...

I dont have the problem you are experiencing. I played alot of games (I only set the video effects to max - not gamma) and when I exit games the gamma from my desktop is the same as before playing while in the game it has another setting. I dont know which games let you keep the gamma from the desktop, but I think your problem may be from the games not the card.
