Hi All,

have the above powersupply in a system with an overclocked Q6600 AT 3.3ghz. It works fine but after 15 minutes or so of stress testing the power supply starts a low pitched whistle, is this something to be concerned about ... is it failing or struggling to cope with the load? The whistling stops the moment i stop PRIME95. It has a single 12v rail with 30a capacity and is roughly 4-5 years old.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Meh, could just be the fan bearings or somesuch. Defo coming from the PSU? I would say that (esp for a brand ive never heard of!) its doing well to last 5 years running an OC'd modern proc so i'd be tempted to replace it anyway.

Thanks for the responses guys,

thought as much - will buy a new power supply before I kill my pc. I am thinking of getting a Corsair 650TX ... and afte reading Silverion77 link to the 850TX review it should be good. Will a better power supply improve my Vdroop or is this exclusively a motherboard issue?

vdrop and droop are usually related to the motherboard.

I mean more stable volts on the PSU end helps, but i too with my Signature (or other high end PSUs) still get it
