I just upgraded my video card and everything was going smoothly for about 2 days. went from a 6600 to a 8600 gts. then occasionally when i would push the power button the system would semi start up and all the fans would jiggle and lights would flicker but it would hang right there. i would have to hold the power button to force it to turn off.

so i began trouble shooting unplugged everything and pulled video card nothing occasionally it would do the wiggly jiggling flickering deal but nothing really.

pulled ram and different configs
none powered on

put in video card
no display

i ended up putting ram back in because its safe inside the case
powered on and it works?!
still no display

now every time it power on when i hold for manual power down it like blinks off and comes right back on

so i am currently thinking that my PSU died.

im going to try adding some lights and fans to see if it does the flickering thing again but im at a loss if its not the PSU since it does hold softpower... technicly

the setup
the powersupply is a ultra xconnect 500 or 600 w
1 DL burner
1 ide drive
2 sata
6 LED fans
2 cathode lights
2 512 kingston ddr2 4200

any tips or suggestions would be great. i miss my games and its killing my college work...

is there a brand that has a lower price point, while still being of good quality? im going to order on really soon, possibly on monday

spend the $100, it is worth it, the PSU is the #1 neglected part it's the quality of the power that is important.
hopefully you MB is OK,

you need ram for min config, some people get cheap ram to troubleshoot their system.

if you don't have onboard video you sorta need the video card for a min config test to actually see what it is doing

so you put in the old nvidia 6600 to see if that would work

did a little searching and it appears that this happens often with the ultra xconnect,

if you still have the manufactures warranty you can use it, or if it still in the grace period you can take it back to the store and exchange it for one that works {or a recommended quality PSU, not one thats just shinny}

the xconnect is 68-77% efficient it is good for a PSU made 3 years ago
