Comp doesn't rexoqnize mic

My build
CPU : 9590
GPU : saphire vapor x r9 290x
RAM : 8gb corsair pro vengence 2400hz
MOBO : ASROCK fatality 970 preformance
CASE : h440
SSD: 2 samsung 850 evos

I have my headphones plugged into the green port on the back of my case. This is the only one that my headphones work with. My comp recoqnizes them as speakers.
please help.
