Compaq 6300 Pro Xeon support

So my friend just got a Compaq 6300 Pro Mt with an i5-3470 installed and I'm wondering if the motherboard will support an upgrade to a Xeon E3-1230 V2. I can't find information anywhere confirming that this chip isn't compatible but I also haven't found any confirming that it is. It should be since the Q75 Express chipset on the board is LGA1155, right? Since the Xeon supports FCLGA1155 and it's basically the same as LGA1155.

I'm aware it isn't officially listed, I just assumed it wasnt't on the lust because it is an FCLGA1155 chip. FCLGA1155 chips do work on LGA1155 motherboards, however (although Intel doesnt aknowledge it). So the Xeon would physically fit in the slot and pulls the same amount of power as other supported processors.

It's not as simple as "if it fits it should work". It would most likely require a BIOS update - if HP haven't released a BIOS update for Xeon support (and I can't see any BIOS updates that mention Xeon support) the PC won't POST.

It fits and it should work. There is a guy in vietnam selling 6300 MT's with this processor.

I'm thinking about using this processor in my 6300 MT also. I have no doubt it will work. At least not enough doubt to stop me from buying a $25 chip. Brumple.

Hello! May be my info will be usefull and a have a question!

I have a two identical HP 6200 Pro Microtower. And i buy 2 Intel Xeon E3-1225.

First have bios version 2.15 and work fine with Xeon on Ubuntu 18.04.

But the second have 2.28 and i have 6 beeps only and no booting!

I need downgrade bios on second machine but no have idea. In hp site they note that you can downgrade bios from 2.28.

AFUDOS dont work with this mainbord, IFT too.

And do you have videocard in your system? E3-1230 dont have indernal video core
