I have a Compaq Armada 1575D/2920D Series laptop I got from an old friend in Germany. When he tried to boot it there it showed some error about “System Disk not found” on the monitor. I brought it to the us and had to put in the cord that fit in the us outlet. I noticed it took I believe 250v. US outlets are 120v. The psu is in the laptop. I turned it on and the lights went on but nothing at all in the monitor. Any idea what could be going on?

Somewhere on that laptop is a label with voltage specification.

OTOH - what you would do with 20+ years old laptop which barely ran Win95 even when it was new?
Yeah that’s makes sense. It says it covers 100-240v, ~.95A, and 50-60Hz. What could the problem be?

WDYM? It has 266Mhz clock speed. People install Windows 95 (even 98) on it and don’t seem to have any problems. (Look for Armada 1575 in here) Compaq Armada 1700.

Somehow I got it to work by replacing the bios battery. I don't know if this is what actually got it to work or what it is. I have another problem now (on another thread).
