Compaq Presario Desktop PC connected to a 32" HD TV via HDMI but no sound? Any help? I am running the 32 bit window vista and have all the factory components inthe PC as far as i know.
it might not say HDMI, it may say AMD or NVidia or Intel depending on the graphics you are using. Depending on the OS, it may show the TV name instead.
you have to go the control panel, sound, find playback, find HDMI and right click on it and select set as default device or something like that.
It does not show a HDMI option. there is 'Speakers' and 'Realtek Digital Output' none of which allow the tv to p[lay sound as they have different output ports instead of the HDMI port

Does your PC have a discrete video card with HDMI, or are you using an integrated HDMI connection? If it's a discrete card, please verify that your model outputs audio over the HDMI port. Is the video working ok? If the video over HDMI is working, your tv should show up as an audio device. Are you connected directly to the tv, or is there a receiver in between?
