I'll state the difference of the 2 builds.

The other build has a better CPU cooler, this will reduce the thermals if you are going to do some high overclocking. If you are going to overclock up to 4.6 Ghz or less the Hyper 212evo is more than enough with very safe temperatures.

The other build uses only 128 GB of SSD. If you don't mind this you can implement the 128 GB of SSD instead of the 256 GB of SSD in my final revision build.

If you are going to game on 1080P the GTX 970 overclocked will be superior compared to the R9 390 overclocked. Also the R9 390 produces more heat, usually not an issue however a point to be taken. Also the R9 390's minimum PSU is 650W. That is barely cutting it. However if you get the final revision build, you will have some extra headroom to comfortably overclock the CPU & GPU.

Here's some info to help:
Asus: https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GTX_970_STRIX_OC/30.html

Noise - I'm not sure what there is to disagree with. I simply said some cards could disable the fans completely which some people like.

Performance - I have no issue recommending the Gigabyte. You can read this and look up other reviews if you want:

also: http://us.hardware.info/reviews/5867/12/15x-nvidia-geforce-gtx-970-and-980-review-what-card-to-pick-final-thoughts

Specifically: "Out of the five GTX 970 cards we tested it is a draw between the ASUS Strix and MSI Gaming cards, both have excellent performance, are priced competitive and are quiet. The Gigabyte and Inno 3D kaarten are slightly faster out of the box than the ASUS and MSI but are also noisier. "

(Under load the Asus Strix scored 38.6dBA and the Gigabyte G1 970 system 50.7dBA. Since perceived noise doubles every 10dBA that means the Gigabyte system was more than TWICE as loud. This also leaves some room to overclock the Asus some more while still being quieter but I'll just leave it there.)

Frankly you should be very happy with either card.

So make of that what you will.

And BTW i have heard the Gigabyte G1 GTX970 myself so I can confirm it is noticeable. Some people are more sensitive to noise than others. Would I call this "noisy" myself? No.

"Good god I wish I knew about this before hand (not one review seemed to mention this), got one today at idle the noise is incredibly annoying a constant and audible droning sound (and definitely the fans put fingers on fans to stop them noise issue instantly gone). Have anything going music, video or game and it is drowned out but when there's nothing else it is hideous. I'm hoping they'll patch this out so fans will stop at certain temperatures, it's either that or I seriously need to consider returning this and getting one of the other 970's."

Is the fan profile modified in the more recent Gigabyte cards? Possibly, but I have yet to find evidence of this.

Choose whatever case you find appealing and within your budget. It's ultimately up to your preference in taste. Some cases do have better features than others. Personally I prefer cases like the 450D, but that might be a little pricy.

Should I change the ram or mother board in he most recent suggested build? I am ok with the case he has there.
