Question Comparing these 2 Lenovo Ideapad models. Which one is the better value? (Canada)

I'm looking for a 15 inch display laptop for note-taking, web browsing and multimedia (netflix/youtube), which has to have quiet fan noise.
I found the lenovo ideapad to suit my needs.
I came across two different models and I would like to know which one is the better value.


1st option:
Lenovo Ideapad 3
Price: $699.00 CAD
Specs:

• AMD Ryzen 5 5500U
• 12GB DDR4
• 512GB SSD

2nd option:
Lenovo Ideapad 5
Price: $794.99.00 CAD
Specs:

• AMD Ryzen 7 5700U
• 8GB RAM
• 512GB SSD

Ideapad 3 is about $100 cheaper and has more ram. But the ideapad 5 has better cpu.

Can the Ideapad 5 be upgraded with more RAM?

Both can be upgraded with more ram. That being said I would say the Ideapad 5 is the better laptop.

The Ideapad 5, it's a better quality laptop. It should be relatively inexpensive to add another 8GB of RAM.
