Hello All,
I have just bought the above mentioned board from ebay (used), along with an i5-2500K from CEX. after a 2 week nightmare trying to get windows to run/install, it turned out that the CPU was broken and so they replaced it with an i5-3570K. After a few hiccups, this actually booted in to my OLD install of windows 7 (for reasons which are lengthy & boring, I need to avoid a windows re-install if at all possible so please don't suggest this unless you know it is my only option.)
I had already downloaded all of the available drivers from ASUS website for this board but when I tried to install them, the drivers for the onboard Bluetooth device came up with multiple errors. Although all of the the other drivers appeared to install OK, when I came to plug the speakers into the rear panel, i got no audio output. Also no output from front panel audio either. I have tried;
Removing & re-installing drivers
downloading drivers again from ASUS then repeating the above.
Using the drivers on the MOBO CD (which were labelled the same)
Testing my speakers with my phone, testing the cable from the PC to the speakers with same.
I have tried changing BIOS front panel setting from HD to AC97 and back.
Various things in the RealTek config program (I don't really understand all the settings in there)
Originally I couldn't see the Headphone & speaker settings in the Playback devices window but now they are there and when I right-click and select test the green bars flash but nothing comes out. I have tried with earphones that have no inline volume control to ensure that is not the issue. I don't have facility to test onboard HDMI or SPDIF.
I'm afraid I don't understand how things work when there are multiple sources trying to provide the same thing. e.g.if you have graphics on the CPU, on the MOBO & a discrete GPU. I don't know what could conflict. Both my GPU & MOBO have HDMI outputs, how do I ensure audio is not going to either of those (which are not in use, my Monitor is connected to the DVI output on my GPU)
Looking from the bottom up, I don't seem to be able to update to the latest BIOS 3802 or the previous one 3702, my MOBO is using 3603. I haven't tried a 'FRESH' install of windows as I don't have a spare drive etc., Nothing is recognized as being plugged in to the 3.5mm jack when i do that. The Drivers for the onboard Bluetooth device don't work & the device in device manager is listed as unknown.
I don't know if any of these things are related but I'm clutching at straws now!
Any help, or even anyone running this MOBO & CPU combination that can confirm it's not a compatibility issue would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.
