Compatible Ram sticks!

I want to upgrade my desktop to 8gb.My motherboard is a discontinued gigabyte model no.GA-G41MT-D3{socket 7-7-5}& uses single channel ddr3 4gb-Kingston ramsticks.Kingston has discontinued these in 2/4/8 gb.Is there any stillout there or a compatible alternative?Please Help!

Even buying the same make and model is not guaranteed to work without issue. RAM is sold in matched kits for this reason, the DIMM’s are tested to work together.

Now a lot of the time you can get away with mixing similar speed and timing RAM but it’s a gamble. Best bet, sell your 4gb and buy a 8gb kit.

I would try matching it with a similar stick with similar specs, but I would get the RAM from a vendor who has a good return policy. RAM can be kinda finicky, so it may not work. But chances are that it will. Given RAM prices, I would try and save as much as I could.

I wasn't planning on mixing & matching.ialready planned on buying a kit but which one?i don't know how to match them.Kingston discontinued stocking their matched types for my motherboard & I don't know what alternatives are acceptable.Hoping someone can tell me how to find a match.Here's hoping!

Here is the memory QVL for that board. Buy something on that list for a guarantee that it will work.
