Competitive gaming on a 1080 and a 8600k - is it enough?

Games like: CS:GO, Overwatch, TF2 and more. 1920x1200 resolution. Preferably max settings. Planning on overclocking the 8600k up to 5ghz.
Another bonus question if you're willing: Is this cooler (https://bit.ly/2Oi71dw) enough to overclock the 8600k to 5ghz on stable-ish temps?

With a i7 6700k you are unlikely to overclock it to 5 ghz, and temps are about low 80s with a kraken x61 so expect higher temps with that small AIO cooler. I'd suggest staying under 1.35v for 24/7 oc but try not to go above 1.4v. Good luck with the oc, Idk If you'll hit 5ghz though.

Oh, you wrote 6700k but that's different, you should hit 5 ghz on that chip but that coolers still a bit weak sauce. What's your refresh rate? For those games that build will definitely hit well over 60 fps.

Refresh rate is 60Hz. I want well over that though because, well, it just feels smoother but it's not very scientific haha

First off that is a fair amount of horsepower for that resolution on those games unless you want ridiculously high framerates.

As for overclocking the CPU to 5GHz, while it's not an enormous OC, it's more than a pedestrian OC. That cooler is unlikely to get you there. By 5GHz, I assume that's not a single core at 100% usage, you want it to run that clock with all 6 cores at 100% at 5GHz right? If this is the case, you will most certainly need something bigger to keep your temps in check. You should be looking at a good 240mm AiO or better. Or a very good / large air cooler.

A lot of people make the mistake of seeing water cooling (regardless of size) and they automatically think awesome temps and quiet. In many case the latter is out the window right away as the pumps can be quite noisy on AiOs. That is a very small radiator so you aren't going to get very good cooling efficiency if you intend to overclock, just not enough surface area.

Don't bother with that cooler.
The 120mm liquid coolers are generally worse than the good air coolers, yet cost twice as much.

Using the site from the link you provided, this seems a reasonably priced AiO

It's probably not the best out there, but if price is a concern this will probably give you bang for the buck.

You can't go wrong with a good air cooler either as USAFRet has supplied you with a couple of good options. They are big though, so case size will play a large role in you decision. You also need to look at the coolers clearance with your chosen motherboard / RAM as tall RAM heatsinks can cause an issue if the cooler doesn't have lot's of clearance and the motherboard has them under the cooler.
