PC Build: http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/p/LHH4vK

After 3 years of desperatelly wanting a PC, i decided to save (been saving for a year now) my money and build a PC. I wanted this PC to handle light video editing (Sony Vegas) and also quite abit- but not too heavy- gaming. Games such as GTA IV, Battlefield 4, Runescape and League of Legends. I also wanted to branch out to more games which I cannot do with a potato of a laptop. So next week I am finally going to build this budget-yet effective PC. I will game, browse web and video edit on this machine.

Ultimately, what are your guys thoughts on it? What are some future upgrades I should do and will it suffice for what I need to do? I have already got the majority of the parts, just purchased the last of them and just waiting for arrival. Thoughts?

Its a solid little build mate ,it looked expensive till I realised it was nz dollars.

The only thing really missing is an aftermarket cooler - the amd one does do the job but I guarantee the noise under load will drive you insane after a couple of weeks.

Vegas with the right work flow runs great with the Radeons in GPU compute. It looks as if you could drop back as far as an R9 270, save some good money, and still get great performance -- especially if you are willing to dial back the eye candy in your gaming.

You might want to consider the Gigabyte -UD3P 970 motherboard. Better PWM and a possible Crossfire -- for both your gaming and rendering (Adobe Premiere can render nearly 2X faster -- still waiting for Vegas to match that)

Will I be able to use the R9 280X to my advantage when it comes to video editing? I read somewhere you can use your GPU to help render etc. Or is it not possible? Thanks for the response, I might make those further upgrades in the future, who knows! 😀

It's in NZD mate, and omg parts in New Zealand are expensive! So crazy.

What CPU cooler do you think I should get? One that isn't too hard to install but also does the job haha.

That's double the price...
And, an Intel i5 with a GTX 980 ...

scores the same as a Radeon R9 270 in Vegas rendering :ouch:
