Computer booting by itself ?

Hi there,

I wasn't sure about where to post my question so I though the Motherboard forum would be the best.

I have some kind of weird problem with my new computer. Every night I shut down my computer, then the next day when I wake up my computer is turned on. I disabled all the WakeOn fonctions in the BIOS. I also turned off the wakeup option where you can select the time/date for your computer to boot.

And yes, I am 100% sure it's not someone from my family who start the computer when I'm not around :] Also, I did wait for my computer to shut down before leaving the room so I'm also sure it's not booting right after the shut down process.

Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem could be ?

Yes, I am using Windows XP Professional.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP, with an AthlonXP 1700+ processor.

There is a check box you can clear from one of the hardware settings pages in the control panel(I think), that will pevent rebooting on a system error. I had a friend whose computer would reboot instead of shutting down. So if she hit shutdown and left the room, when she returned, the computer would have rebooted. So she was having a driver problem that was causing a memory error.
