Hi everyone,

I have a custom built pc and am having a weird issues. I went to use my pc and I could hear it running but had no display. I powered it off and back on and I saw the post screen, and then it restart. After the restart, I got no display and no power to my Backlit keyboard or my GPU. What could this problem be? I have taken out the memory one at a time, no luck. I removed the GPU, no luck. Is this the motherboard or psu? What else could I try? Thanks for any help!

Edit: I also cannot get into the bios. The computer shuts off before it lets me in. Another note, when starting the pc with no sticks of ram, the computer runs with no beeps but has no display.

Solution

I would check the manual for the motherboard, but some(if not all) have safety circuitry that could prevent the board from powering on unless both the CPU fan and the Chassis fans are connected and operational.

My motherboard is an Asrock Z77 Pro3 with an Intel i5 5770k I believe. Another new note. I reset the cmos. Now it boots past post and says uefi defaults have been loaded. Press F2 to run set up or F1 to continue. If I hit either F1 or F2, the computer turns off for 3 seconds and then restarts with no display.

Also, I've had this pc for about 5 years.

The cpu is actually the i5 5770k. This is a custom built pc. Asrock Z77 Pro3 board. Power color 7850 gpu. I've been using it for about 5 years and this is the first time I have ever had a problem

Unfortunately I am not at home but I am sure it is connected properly. I have used the machine for 5 years straight without ever having a problem. The only change that happened, which I don't believe could have done anything, is that I removed my TV and Xbox One from the same power strip as my PC. My PC worked saturday. Same day after using it, I moved my xbox and Tv to a different room. I then did not use my PC until Sunday Night and it was not working. That's the only thing that changed from when I last used it. It had been on that same power strip for the last like 4 years.

Got a new board. Hooked it all up and got 3 one second beeps and computer restarts and does the same beep cycle until I power off. Tried 4 known good sticks of ram. Any ideas? Intel DZ77SL-50K board

So while examining the board I realized my rear fan was unplugged.. I plugged it in as well as dusted the ram and slots and then the computer booted fine. Is there any way the rear fan caused it not to work?
