I'm building a Computer for my friend who's really into gaming, his budget is 1200$ (CAN).

I already made an online build and I wanted to know what you guys think about it before ordering. Also my friend won't be overclocking his PC so I was wondering if it's possible to shuffle the parts to reduce the overall price and increase performance a little.

Here's the list: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/pt4shq

So if you guys have any suggestions let me know! Thank you very much for taking the time to read this.

if he's really into gaming, an i7 and slower gpu will just lower your frame rate.

if you're getting the 6600k then id suggest you get a z170 motherboard. its not necessary but you have a rather expensive b150 motherboard you could easily change to a cheaper z170 to allow you to overclock the cpu a bit

also, one other thing. $379 for a gtx 1060 is absurd. there are gtx 1070s on newegg for that price

if he wont be overclocking, i woudl drop the 6600k to a 6600 or 6500. could also get rid of the cpu cooler and use the one that comes with the 6600 (i thik one does?). potentially could use that saved money towards a gtx 1070. or just save the money

its not US dollars. 379 CAD seems decent

okay yes my bad. i still wouldn't bother with the 6600k then if you won't be able to overclock with the board you have selected.

edit - if its a difference of like $10 which it seems to be in the US then maybe why not just get the 6600k

Thanks for your replies, the 6600 does come with a cooler so it would drop the price a good 50-60$, but is the performence change drastic? Or Is it just not overclokable?

Because if he end up getting a 1070 GPU instead, I wonder if the CPU will start becoming a problem in a near future?

theres a bit of performance drop but not enough to affect a 1070 i believe . i would recommend the 6600 over the 6600k for someone who wont overclock. saves money and wont see a difference in the majority of games/applications even in the future. i think the biggest drawback would be if in a few years he wants more power, he cant overclock and will be forced to upgrade. but if he wont overclock anyway then its a non issue.

TL😀R - get the 6600 and he wont be disappointed
