Anyone else here suffer from computer related Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I'm sure there are some.

I love technology and like new advancements just as much as the next guy but... sometimes I think it would be nice if content was allowed to flourish on particular platforms before coming out with new advancements.

Everything is moving so fast nowadays. You build a rig and right away it's out of date. You buy a brand new sexy, shiny, 144hz 3d capable monitor for gaming, and then see a couple months later that 4K is on it's way.

I'm one of those suckers who gets pulled in to all the newest stuff, while half of the time realizing I probably don't even need it.

My current build is decent
i7-990x
ASUS Rampage III Formula
2X GTX 670 FTW in SLI
24GB of Corsair RAM
2 SSDs
3 HDDs

I was fighting with thoughts in my head of upgrading to a newer platform and decided to stay with what I have, and even with all of that, all I can do is obsess about the newest stuff to hit the tech sites.

I think the Corporations that make computer parts prey on the wallets of people like that. Releasing slightly, incrementally better things every year. Evertime a new processor comes out I just hear about how people are disappointed that it's not more powerful. YES, it would be nice to have a 4K display with 4 Nvidia Titans in SLI on a PCIE 3 motherboard... but what's wrong with developers just making sure that current games can run smoothly on mid to upper/mid range builds. Anti-aliasing options should be required by law on games for pc. FXAA hurts my soul.

Sometimes I miss just turning on a console and not having to mess with settings and drivers, and tweaks, and just enjoying the games for being games.

Now that I've said that, I'll probably sit around and go through the Nvidia Inspector panel for the game that I want to play instead of just jumping right in.

Just had to get it off my chest.

Your build as it is is faster than my setup. I'd love even one 670 lol.

I've had my 6950 for almost 2 or 3 years, and its worked fine for me. Its really all about how you are willing to play your games. When I bought the 6950, it was top of the line (and one of the unlockable ones at that). Since I plan to use it for a long time, I equipped it with an Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo II cooler. As it stands, it still plays all of the games I want to play on desirable quality.

I see what you mean though. I originally put my computer into a Thermaltake V9 Black Edition, and since then, I must have changed the case at least 7 times. Right now, it sits in a custom painted (by yours truly) Dell XPS 630i case. I couldnt make up my mind about how I wanted it to look until I inherited this computer. Now, I love it.

For the most part, I am happy with what I can get, being on a college student and all.

Yeah I was going crazy over my case for awhile too! My case is pretty small mid ATX for all the crap I crammed in there, but I was able to get it to fit. My buddy got one of those huge NZXT Phantoms with the cable management, and that's pretty sweet. I definitely plan on having cable management in my next build.

Being happy with what you can get is the goal for sure, the problem is when you can get more even if you don't need it. There are literally studies in psychology that say the more choices people have the less happy they are. I think it may be true.

When I was younger and all I could afford was a Nintendo 64, I enjoyed the hell out of it, and didn't spend one second thinking about computer parts. Just played games and had a blast.

That's sweet that you painted your case though, I was thinking about doing it, but was too afraid I'd mess something up. Did a few little mods here and there.

I painted mine with plasti-dip, so there were close to no consequences lol.

I actually was running (and still have) a pair of GTX570's, but I am deciding to sell them since I really didnt need the power and I'd rather have the money. My friend has one of those Phantoms as well (a white one) and his cable management is very good. It makes sense about the choices thing, when you have many choices you are less happy.
