Computer Can't Boot

Windows starts and goes to start up repair and is unable to repair the problem. It says the root cause is that "aswRvrt.sys is corrupt". This is after a power outage that occurred in my city if that applies to the problem.
Should I just completely reinstall my OS or is my boot drive defective?

Thanks for the help.

You could try booting from the dvd / or get to a command prompt. Type in rstrui.exe if system restore is on. And go back to a restore point before Avast was installed

If that doesnt work you may have to do a clean install. And dont install Avast again
