So I built a mostly new computer last month (carried over a few parts from old computer). A few days in (really the first time I played a game) the computer crashes.
Monitor goes black
Keyboard freezes (numblock/caplock lights don't light up but the keyboard's LED's all work)
Mouse .. well I can't tell if the mouse is dead, it has pretty lights too.
I have to unplug the computer in order to shut it down, the power button does nothing. Systems Reliability viewer states the computer was not properly shut down when it crashes. "Radeon settings host application stopped working" seems to pop up a lot since the new build... but I uninstalled Radeon drivers last year when I got a new video card. Computer has ran fine with no errors until the new build.
From my old computer I carried over the GPU, power supply, and hard drives. Assuming they're fine...
I've swapped out the motherboard, power supply, and ram. Note: the old power supply I swapped it out with has a high pitched whine to it, but it worked fine when I replaced it with the new EVGA one.
Temperatures all are a-okay before the crash.
Passmark stress test cause the crash to happen faster, but it still crashes when I'm just using chrome or firefox. I haven't tried a GPU stress test.
Nothing is overclocked, not even the ram.
All drivers are updated
Did a system memory check just for the heck of it, all good.
Computer spec:
Rog strix x470-F gaming
Ryzen 5 2600 w/ aftermarket cooler
Nvidia 1060 6GB
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 2 x 16GB DDR4 3000
SSD and HHD
EVGA Super NOVA 750w
Windows 10 (not activated)
I really don't want to, but reinstalling windows is my next thought and pretty much only thought. I already RMA'd the motherboard because I strongly thought that was the cause. The CPU is the only thing I'm unable to swap out and I doubt newegg will think to kindly of me if I RMA'd that too.
Any help or idea's would be great!
