I've been noticing lately that my custom built pc has been crashing very frequently recently. It's about 4 years old now and I recently swapped out the GPU. The problem did occur before the gpu swap. Some games that I've experienced crashing on are H1Z1, CS:GO, and Overwatch at high settings.

OS: Windows 10
CPU: i7-3770k
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H
RAM: GSkill Sniper DDR3-1600
Power Supply: Sparkle 1250W 80+ Gold
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 120GB
Hard Drive: WD Black 2TB

GPU and CPU are running at factory settings.

Temperatures of both CPU and GPU remain below 70 Celcius. Which hardware items should be tested/swapped first?
Edit: When computer "crashes", everything turns off, and after a few seconds, it turns itself back on.

Yeah, I just swapped out my brother's PSU. It's been working fine for a few hours now. I'll reply to this thread when I encounter a crash.

Could be that the sensors on your motherboard are more tightly set than the ones on your brothers motherboard,so when the psu goes out of spec it senses it when the one in your brothers pc doesn't.
Furthermore does it seem that he has a different system so the load on the rails might just be different. That psu has about six +12V rails as far as i remember and maybe one of those goes out of spec in your system while not being loaded too much in his system.

Just some thoughts.

Glad it is working again. Have fun! 😀
