Question System shuts down and doesn't recognise M.2. SSD on reboot ?

Hi,

I have a problem I can't seem to troubleshoot. I keep getting intermittent computer crashes, sometimes with a BSOD.

Once the system reboots it goes straight into the BIOS and doesn't recognise my primary M.2. SSD with my Windows 11 OS install.

If I turn it off and give it a couple of minutes and then turn back on then it recognises it and goes straight to Windows ?

I've updated all my drivers etc, ran a malware scan. Does this sound like a faulty M.2. drive?

Any other ideas?

You have a good quality PSU so the chances of that being the issue are slim. Still, there can be lemons even among the best.

But in the meantime;
* plop out one RAM DIMM and look if things improve. This lessens the load on MoBo memory controller and would show if RAM is the issue. If you do get BSoD, switch the RAM DIMMs around, to validate both DIMMs individually.
* plop out your GPU, connect monitor to MoBo and look if things improve. This lessens the load on PSU and would show if PSU (or GPU) would be the issue.
* run OS in Safe Mode and try your level best to get BSoD to appear. If system crashes in Safe Mode, then issue is with Win kernel or hardware.

Could be that your Crucial OS drive is failing. Check the drive status from CrystalDiskInfo. You can also bench it via CrystalDiskMark.
