Solution

Right click it and choose "New Partition" then "Primary Partition"
Choose NTFS as file system with default allocation size unit
And choose quick format

Make sure the SATA connector is firmly connected
Have you done anything in the BIOS recently?

Try updating the drivers. If it says it is already up to date, try uninstalling it and then go to Action and select "Scan for hardware changes".

Shows where? Device Manager? Or Disk Management

If disk management:
Right click on the drive and select format (make sure the file system is NTFS)

Perform the basics...
1. Connect the HDD to a different SATA port (connector).
2. If another SATA data cable is available, use it.
3. Check the health of the HDD via a HDD diagnostic program. The major HDD manufacturers, e.g., WD & Seagate, have programs available for this purpose. Check their websites. Always the possibility you may be dealing with a defective disk.
