Computer doesn't recognize ASUS Hyper m.2 x4 mini

Hey, I got the ASUS hyper m.2 x4 mini for my intel 600p ssd because my mobo doesn't have a m.2 input, but when I put it all together my computer didn't find the ssd. Is there anything you need to do in BIOS when you get it for the computer to recognize the ssd?

If this is going to be a boot drive then your motherbd may need a bios update to support nvme boot. This does not mean they actually created one.
If this is a storage drive then did you install the nvme driver?

Well, thing is, I'm asking this for a friend and he's gonna use a migration program to move his operating system from his current hard drive that he's using onto the ssd he bought because he doesn't have a legit version of windows. But his computer cant find the ssd when we plug it in and we're kind of lost.
