Hello,
I just bought some new parts and have made my computer with them. They are the following:
CPU: AMD FX-9590, with Big Shuriken Cooler
Motherboard: Asus M5A78L-M LX3 Series
RAM: 2x 4GB HyperX Genesis
HDD: Crucial M500 120 GB + WD Green 1TB
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 660 Twin Frozr
PSU: 750W
Additionally, it has an internal card-reader at the front, a CD-drive and two fans connected directly to the PSU.
This is the situation:
When I booted the system for the first time I managed to check it's BIOS, check whether it recognized all the components (It recognized all components correctly) and then I managed to install Windows 7. I did notice one startup error before, a logon failure. But I've had this failure before with different computers and I didn't think much of it at the time. When I started it for the first time with it's new installation of windows, it prepared the desktop as usual, and then when it fully started, I had to do something else. I left it to run for a good half hour doing nothing, and when I came back the computer was off. I tried starting it again but since then it's continually failing to POST. It's not even going to BIOS anymore. I tried removing some parts, moving the RAM and I even installed a different 500W PSU (this PSU was known to have issues though, but it always managed to start in the past, this particular PSU failed when the runtime was long.). It seem to do the exact same thing, the fans are starting, but nothing happens.
I feel (and hope) that it's both PSU's that are actually failing. Since the standby led on the motherboard is on when I connect it to the power, I doubt the motherboard is the culprit here. Definitely because the motherboard is completely new, only the PSU's, WD Green harddrive and GPU are from a computer I had before, but they aren't more then a month or two old.
Does anyone have any ideas about this? I would like to hear your thoughts about this issue and what might be going on here.
