Computer freezez while doing back up !!

Hello,
trying to do back up on C6 click free . When it gets to 69% laptop freezez.. I know I need to change my hard drive but is there a way that I can complete the back up first...How can I get hard drive to keep spinning..

Doesn't make sense to backup a hard drive if you are having problems with it, as your backup will probably prove to be useless.

I would got to command prompt and run chkdsk /r on the drive and any
diagnostic tool from drive mfg or your computer mfg.
