Computer Freezing after logging in

Starting yesterday i am unable to boot my computer in anything but safe mode. When I boot it normally I can log in to my account, but after a minute or so everything starts to freeze. I can still move my mouse and I can see what is going on in my task manager, but nothing else.

does your task manager show any strange cpu or memory usage?

No it doesn't. My PSU has been a bit more noisy than usual but when I did run Core Temp to see if it was overheating it was all normal.

I think if it was your psu it wouldnt power at all. Can you disable all startup programs in safe mode? Have you had a windows update recently?

I have not tried to disable the startup programs so I will give that a try. As for an update I dont think I have run one in the past month.


Just tried booting up with all startup programs disabled and it still froze after a minute or so.

It sounds like therre may be a corrrupt file and its locking up when it tries to load it

I tried the first suggestion, but not the second since it did not list Win7. I got the everything's fine message.
