I'm sorry in advance if I posted in the wrong place.

Hello, I've been looking for a fix and I cannot find one, so I decided it's time to make an account and ask. My computer wont open new webpages for a few minutes and then it will start working again. Sometimes it freezes completely and I have to do a force shutdown. This happens a couple of times a day. I've scanned for viruses and it detected no viruses. Is it because I haven't cleaned the inside of my computer for 5 years (since I got it)? If you have any idea why this is happening, or need more info, please let me now ASAP! Thank you!

Solution
This can be due to a number of causes.

Start with running CCleaner to get rid of the internet gunk, and temporary files.

Then also run Defreggler as a fragmented hard drive can cause this.

If still having issues, you should consider reloading Windows which will bring you back to factory specs, but you will blank any date from the hard drive so have it backed up first.

If you have only 1 or 2 GB of RAM, that can also effect the system's performance, as some of the computers had back then.

This could also be due to overheating issues with the cpu throttling down, so cleaning out the dust from the inside is in order as well.

I ran CCleaner today and it's still happening, I reloaded Windows last year and it's not allowing me to install SP1 and some of the updates from Windows. I'll try Defraggler and cleaning out the dust. I currently have 3.75 GB of RAM available. Thank's for your reply!
