Since February or March of 2016 i have been having a very frustrating issue where my computer freezes up and screen goes black while playing a game. It started to happen while playing rocket league. It would only happen once every few days where my PC would blackscreen playing Rocket League and it was hit or miss whether i would have to force shut off or if the drivers would recover and allow me to continue playing.

So at first i thought this was an NVIDIA driver problem so i was just gonna wait for new drivers to come out and hopefully that would fix it. But this never happened so i stopped playing the game.

By the end of March or beginning of April i updated to windows 10 thinking it would speed up my PC and fix other problems, but it turned out to be a problem of its own. For a month Windows 10 ran fine but then it started experiencing all the problems affiliated with windows 10 that were all over the internet. I tried going back to Rocket League but it only got worse and began to crash more often.

By Mid-April, windows 10 damaged my PC to the point where i had to get a new motherboard and graphics card, both replaced under warranty. I thought this would fix my problem with Rocket League, but it did not. This soon started happening with other games very slowly and at this point i re imaged my computer back to windows 7 and what its state was in december of 2013 when it was made.

For a week or two none of my games crashed and i played rocket league fine. But then the crashes came back and they started happening to all of my games. I can no longer play Rocket League, Rust, Fallout 4, GTA V, and many other which are games that my pc should be able to run without a problem and they do besides the crashes. The only games that run fine without crashing are Shellshock Live and Overwatch. I dont know why but they just dont cause any problems.

At firts i assumed this was a faulty video driver version so i installed driver from early 2016 before i started having problems but that didnt work. I have updated and reinstalled every driver and program that i thought could be the problem but nothing has worked so far. Just tonight i reinstalled geforce experience and installed a driver from March 1st on their website with no luck.

I decided to finally post about my problem after not being able to play Borderlands 2 for five minutes before my monitor black screens and i have to force shut down.

What is causing my drivers to crash, if that is even the problem? or what could possibly be causing the issue to happen?

Help is very much appreciated, or any input to my problem.

I don't think so because when my PC overheats it just shuts off but this problem is with my /Monitor black screening and then having to force shut down. Temp are fine too, and normal.

Could it be that the games have not updated to suit Windows 10? Have you tried reinstalling the games that you have been having troubles with?

Perhaps this Steam article could help you? https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7169-TIAV-5361

So one thing that confuses me is this. I checked my reliability monitor and on Monday it said there were several video hardware errors. This was when i attempted to play Borderlands 2 with my friend and it crashed 3 times after 5min. What doesnt make sense is that when this happens on GTA V, it comes up as GTA stopped responding and says there was no video hardware error.

Could my problem also be this: For a few months when i would update my drivers through nvidia, i would come back hours after i started the install to see that the installation was stuck at 100% on #D Vision Drivers. I would force close the process through task manager when this happened. Could me doing this several times have caused these crashes even if i have done clean installs of drivers that have completely finished installing afterwards?

Update:
Computer just black screened while playing Overwatch for first time. Problem is getting worse. One of the only games i could still play without crashes and it crashes.
Could running a memtest to test my RAM be a plausible idea?
