I have an H81M-D Asus motherboard and I keep getting one short beep then it pauses for about 5 seconds then it gives a long beep quickly followed by 4 short beeps then a very small pause(maybe a second) then another short beep

after the beeps, does the computer function properly?

It never connects to my monitor, but the fan and led light keep running with no more beeps.

google your motherboard to find owners/users manual to find out the name and mfger of the BIOs for your motherboard. Then google the name of the mfger of the Bios and ad Error Beep Codes. See what you come up with.

your a little late, its a ram issue http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

op, i found a solution! reseat the RAM, even if you've already tried pushing them down to ensure they're in and put it in a different ram slot! this has helped many people in the past.

PajamaXLlama: is the Beep signal code the same for all motherboards or does each manufacturer have a different Beep code for their motherboards/computers?
I had figured it was a RAM issue, that s why I suggested he check to make sure he has the correct RAM. Plus it doesn't hurt to have on hand the error Beep codes for his computer for future reference.
