So i recently got the witcher 3 and a new video card. I had a gtx 960 ssc before and it would not run witcher at all, so i bought a gtx 1060 rog strix. Witcher ran at ultra graphics 1080p for the first few days. Now all of a sudden i cant put graphics higher than medium and even at medium it crashes sometimes. I will put my hardware below if anyone can help me out here.

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Intel Core i5 4670 @ 3.40Ghz
16.0GB Dual Channel DDR3 @ 932Mhz (10-11 10-30)
ASUSTek MAXIMUS VII FORMULA (1150 Socket)
ASUS VS247 (1920x1080@60Hz)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce 1060 6GB
Kingston 120GB SSD
SanDisk 240GB SSD

I'm not sure i follow you what do you mean you cant put graphics higher than medium? What is the PSU you are running ? What happens when it crashes ?

The in game graphics settings. PSU is TR2 500w. Thermaltake. The game ran fine when settings were at the ultra preset (nvidia hairworks etc.) and now it doesnt want to stay steady even at medium settings.

Are you monitoring anything like temps, fps, etc ? Are you in the same locations ? I know from experiance that with everything on ultra and hair works that you are not going to keep a stable 60fps ? Are you running vsync ? Did you put max performance in nvidia control ?

i have monitored temps and they are all normal, not exceeding 65. 60fps is out of the question i have toned it down to 30 and i tried taking vsync off. i have not set nvidia control however i will try that

What is the GPU core speed ? what is the GPU usage when vsync is off ? Personally i would turn all hair works off because it doesn't work 100% and kill performance IMO
