My computer keeps freezing at random points every week like once or twice. I have not upgraded anything, I haven't downloaded anything, nor have I have done anything different in more normal everyday use on this computer. The last 2 things I have done to this computer is install a new HDD like a month and a half ago, and update to Windows 10 back in the beginning of August.

PC Specs: Built Febuary 2015

Cooler-Thermaltake water 3.0
GPU-EVGA GTX 980ti (no oc) (48c idle)
RAM- 32gigs 2400mhz Corsair Dominator
MB- EVGA Z97 Classified
Storage- Samsung 850 evo 500gig
HDD- Segate 2TB
PSU- EVGA 1000w g1

Just ran the mdsched.exe and no problems were detected. Anything else you could recommend?

Thermal cycling could have affected contacts. Remove and reseat your graphics card and RAM.

When your computer freezes, does it unfreeze after a while, do you have to use the reset button, or the power switch?
Are there any audio effects when the freeze happens, e.g. sound effects keep playing? If so, you may want to check and update your sound drivers.

Yeah, everytime it freezes I have to switch off the power supply or hold the power switch. Also when it freezes, the sound will have like a constant buzzing sound. but you think reseating them will actually help it? i havent heard of that. i will do it though

Hi Treyhu2014,

I am experiencing the same problem and the common parts between our computer are:
* PSU EVGA 1000 G1
* Samsung 850 EVO 500GB

My system uses:
* ASRock X99 WS mobo
* Team Elite DDR4 RAM
* Zotac Titan X
* Hitachi HDD

My system gradually went worse and worse to the point sometimes it would hang a couple of minutes after booting up.

I replaced the motherboard and I noticed a significant improvement in stability. I could use it for hours without a freeze but it would still freeze every 3-6 hours.

Then, I replaced the PSU with an older PSU: Coolermaster Silent Pro M 700. I noticed another major improvement. Now it runs for a couple of days without a freeze.

Did you find out what was the issue in your case? Was it the PSU or another component? Which one?

Many thanks.

I found the solution for the freezing. Turns out it was the BIOS I installed. I installed the latest BIOS for the EVGA website and it would freeze up on me everyday just about. After I used the one previous to the latest, I never got another freeze up. However, I did restore my PC as well but it did freeze a couple times before I changed back to the older BIOS.
