Hello all, have been having this problem ever since I installed windows 10 and then re-installed windows 8 shortly after. Before installing windows 10 my comp ran perfectly normal. But after I installed windows 8 again, it started to hardlock pretty consistently. I feel its a driver issue of some sort, I was viewing some of my critical errors and its all a little over my head, but from my understanding there is a consistent error, I refresh computer management and it would be showing the same consistent error every six seconds. Now I've never seen this so I'm really hoping its nothing major. I have had memory issues before, but the symptoms were completely different and I always got a BSOD as well as I have replaced the defective memory, with this particular hardlock nothing appears it just freezes completely.

Any help is very much appreciated, I am not sure what to post, so please specify what you would like to see and I will gladly post and share.

Solution
Did you do a clean install of win8 again when you went back to it or did you use the rollback feature to revert from win10? If you rolled back, there may be some lingering drivers or system files from win10 left over that are conflicting. If possible you might try backing up any important files, formatting the hdd and doing a fresh install of win8 as if it were a brand new system and update the os and all drivers (gpu, motherboard etc). That way you'll avoid any potential unwanted win10 leftovers.

I have a feeling it could be some residual drivers from the previous install, I can't recall exactly how I installed win8, had to do it twice, but realistically I can just install it again quickly, Can you run me through a clean install for win 8, just so ensure I don't mess it up this time, much appreciated.

No worries. Glad it's working for you. I'm sure win10 will be getting fixes and improvements as they work out the bugs, nothing really new for new os releases. It's not quite as glitchy as pre-release versions but still not as polished as say an sp1 or sp2 build. It does work well for some people but not quite as well for others so being a mixed bag shows it still has room to improve compatibility and stability. Other software may need to make some updates (drivers, programs etc) to mesh better with the new os as well. When new software or a new os is installed, even with an uninstall option it can be extremely difficult to get rid of all traces of it whether small changes in the registry or left over drivers and things.
