Hi, I have a gigabyte mother board and it keeps shutting down during the booting of windows 7,it shuts sown suddenly with out warning, and if I do boot in, it will shut down almost immediately. Please help me!
That "sticky stuff" is the thermal paste. It NEEDS to be there, and it goes bad over the time and you have to replace it time to time. Did you put new thermal phaste? If there is not thermal paste DONT RUN the PC.
Check on the web how to apply thermal paste, i think that's your problem. If you dont have thermal paste you can buy it on any PC shop.
Wich are your CPU temperatures? Heatsink could be not fully seated or fan dont working, or the thermal paste could gone bad. This would cause the CPU overheating and then shutdown.
Also, your PSU would be damaged or maybe it has not enough power.

I'd suggest connecting an external drive running Windows to see what it does.
Hi Aefuan, thanks for replying, my cup tempura turn is 91 decrease C.heat sink is seated properly and all fans are working fine and what is psu? By the way it is a custom build pc
If your CPU temp is 91 degree celsius while in BIOS, that's the problem. When you load windows temp goes up, and most CPU's will shutdown at 90-105 degree. It seems you have a hestsink/thermal paste problem.
No it is not a new build. It is about a year old. But what problem would it be? I cleaned the heat sink and the fan but nothing happened. There was a bit of sticky stuff on the top of the cpu and on the bottom of the fan.
Until now it has been running fine, what has happened to it? I cleaned all the fans and filters.
