Computer not working after replacing CPU cooler

Hello everyone,

I have seen similar issues here but none of the solutions seemed to work, so thought I should create a new thread.

The problem I was having initially was an overheating CPU (i5 6600). I was using the stock cooler and my CPU cores were reaching 90-100 degrees Celsius while active and about 70 when idling. Because of this, I decided to change the cooler and thermal paste (CM Hyper 212 evo, Arctic silver 5). As soon as I did that, the computer stopped working completely. The PSU works (checked that). Additionally, the USB slots on the motherboard work, as does the power LED on the case. But the computer itself does not turn on at all.

A few thoughts I was having was that there could possibly be something I haven't plugged in, or my CPU is fried. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Reseat your RAM first and see what happens. The RAM modules are right next to the cpu and you may have knocked one out of place.

Also, you must be careful with Arctic Silver 5. This is a conductive cooling paste. If some of it leaked or smeared from your fingers onto the front or back of the motherboard you can short it out easy.

Improper installation of the cooler?
Something shorting out? Back-plate in wrong orientation?
Too much pressure on cpu socket? Over-tightened cooling solution?
Did you forget to connect CPU cooler fan?
Killed something with ESD? Did you do any precautions against ESD?

Have u some how tightened the screws too much or forgot to connect the header in the cpu socket ?
