Computer often not loading past windows loading screen with new 970

Hello i have been having this issue on and off for a while now which started as soon as i installed the driver for my 970. Upon restart the pc just kept switching off just as it was about to hit the windows login screen. It has been constantly changing as at times it used to only not boot on restart. It also seemed to fix it for a boot changing the TDR delay. Then it seemed to be only happen if the HDMI was plugged in. Now it seems to just do it when it wants although it booted second time for me each time this morning. The computer runs fine in gaming and never powers off during any intensive tasks. The best way for me to make sure it boots is to turn off the driver for the 970 before shutdown ( from safemode if i have to) and then boot and turn driver on again... I have a 600watt psu with 25 amp on each 12v rail so 300 wat ish so i have more than enough power. I have an old Gigabyte p7p55d-e lx motherboard and an old i7 870 with 8gb ram. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions to get me this working a bit smoother! Thanks

Yes am on the latest bios however this is not working. I still have this issue which i have found to be quite intermitent and have got away with this issue for this long as i normally just shutdown and then turn on which works fine. It's only when i restart which is during an installation of something or windows update i get a bit stuck and so usually disable the graphics card for tasks like this.

I just feel like it could be something very simple that could fix this as it works fine 100% from a cold boot and wish i knew what was going on differently during a restart and if there was a way of stopping it just so i had a fully working PC.

I am almost about to give up with fixing this issue and just buy a new motherboard but am also worried i will have the same issue as I want a LGA2011 socket (so not so new, just so i can put a 3970 i7 in that i have laying around) but am worried that i will have incompatibilities still and lack of support and updates from vendors.
