My computer will sometimes boot with no signal on the monitor. I'm not sure what's going on, I've tried looking it up but have found nothing. Please help.

Hello... ya my computer only does it if I try to boot too fast after a shut down... it takes time for the GPU to Power down and re-initialize it's functions... there is stored energy in them and 1's and 0's that remain... So slowing down the re-boot time and the MB boot speed will help to eliminate this.

If you want me say this is "normal" I will then. B D "it's normal to see this from time to time"... But if you want to investigate farther... then try the "Tests" I suggested. B /

Okay. You say the no signal boots happen randomly.
Let me ask you this : Do you only get the no signal boots when you try turning on the PC after a long time since the last shutdown ie >20hrs?

Hello... the GPU needs and uses the Most power in your PC... your Power supply also needs time to charge it's electrolytic Capacitors... there is No instant on for power hungry devices... how long does it take for you to get ready for work? B D

I would say you have found the norm between your devices... if it starts to get worse from this point on... it could be the power supply being slow to power up between long shut downs... the electrolytic's would be completely drained over that amount of time. B /

They can't use all those nasty chemical's in them any more for better performance capacitors like they used too... they have to limit charge time too in the design to protect Us/Them.

As "simple test" turn on the power supply and wait a minute or two before starting the Computer.

It is usually long intervals between boots when it happens. It usually happens once then I have to force shut down with the power button (reset button on case stops working). Then it works. You think I need a new power supply?

Hello... how Old is yours? the capacitors are usually the weak links in them over time... and they have multi failure modes/conditions, that can happen over that time.

I have changed a lot of capacitors in my lifetime... saves some $$$ on some high power devices and with some things it just easier to replace the whole unit. B / capacitors can be high on the "Cost reduction" list of products... and it is not un-common to 'upgrade" the cap makers, ratings and sizes used in your home/work product, for better performance.

Hello... well you need to dig into it and see what they are currently using and get the ratings/size/mounting measurements... from that info then you narrow down the replacement list of options from here http://www.mouser.com/

you get what you pay for... higher temperature ratings on capacitors along with the maker can increase the lifetime and cost of them http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=capacitors.

in the Olden days you would double your rating on these things... now days products just get close because of the increased cost to make these things... there is a lot EPA rules and hazards to making/handling them. Production moved from the USA to Mexico and a increase of birth defects came with it, due to the decrease of safety measures used.

It sounds like it's kinda tedious now that I think about it. Any thoughts on a good psu specifically for my system I could pick up ? ( I'm planning on getting a ryzen 3 when they come out)

Hello... well... I don't think you have a crisis with this problem... YET but here's what ya need. B /
AMD FX‑8350 needs 125 watts at 12 Vdc
GeForce GTX 1060 6gb needs 120 watts @12 Vdc
making A TOTAL of 245 watts on the 12Vdc rails and 20 amps minimum needed from the power supply.

What type of power connectors do you have on your ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 6gb Card?

Where would you like to buy it from? show a webpage I can look over for you.
