Hello. This my first ever thread here.
I recently purchased Bioshock Infinite from Steam. Whenever I play, the computer shuts itself off randomly. Might happen in the first 10 minutes, or after an hour. There is no blue screen, it just turns off. There is no, you computer ran into an error when it restarts. I have not experienced this in any other game.
My rig:
Motherboard: MSI X79A-65GD
CPU: Intel i7 3930K over clocked to 4.2 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition Sapphire Vapor-X
RAM: 32GB Mushkin 1600MHz Blackline 994050 (4x8GB)
PSU: Cougar GX1050/R 1050W
Boot SSD: Mushkin Chronos
Secondary HDD (where the game is installed): Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB
OS: Windows 8
At first I thought it might be an overheating issue. So I ran Prime95 and Furmark for 2 hours at the same time, because this should be as demanding as possible.
Max CPU temp: 60°C
Max GPU temp: 72°C
It can also not be a PSU error, as the stress test was successful, therefore the PSU is very much capable of delivering the needed power. As it should being 1050 Watts.
I also ran MemTest86+ for 12 hours without any errors.
I updated all drivers and my BIOS (from version 1.1 to 4.1).
I updated from the latest stable video card driver (Catalyst 13.1) to the latest Beta (13.3Beta3).
I reinstalled Windows.
I reinstalled Steam and the game.
All to no avail.
I'm at a lost. What should I do next? Is it a Hardware error? Is the game at fault? Does anyone experience anything similar?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
