I have been having issues lately where at first it seemed to only occur when my computer was under heavy load (gaming or applications) where it would just shut off randomly, but now it is happening when the computer is just idling.
A thing I noticed is that when it shuts off at first I thought it could have been overheating, but then I noticed I am unable to turn it back on right away pressing the power button, I then notice that the motherboard powerlight isn't on even though the PSU is plugged in.
I then have to unplug the PSU power cord from the wall outlet and then wait a few minutes and then the motherboard light is back on and I am able to power it back up.
I have a feeling with how it is acting it must be my PSU, since it isn't overheating (unless the PSU itself is overheating, but it didn't feel too hot to the touch - was warm but not scalding hot) since checking bios right away after it shutdown (a few minutes later) the temps were around 38-40c for both cpu/gpu and when I had software running before the shutdown my computer at idle was 36-40c for cpu/gpu and when it was under heavy load it never went past 55c for the cpu and it was like 60c for my gpu.
SPECS BELOW:
ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0 Pro
AMD FX 8350 4.0Ghz (no OC)
2x4Gb G.Skill Sniper DDR3
70gb HDD (has win10 on it)
1tb HDD (has my applications and other data)
Radeon HD 7870 OC edition
Coolermaster Silent Pro M2 620w PSU
As of writing this, just in case the PSU is actually bad I am still under warrenty and in the process now of RMAing my PSU to coolermaster... but I posting this here to get information to see if it is in fact my PSU that is bad and not anything else?
